Behind the Seams: Designing Our First Sleepwear Collection
Share
At Robe Society, we don’t rush products.
Every piece we create is intentional — from the fabric to the embroidery placement to the way it makes you feel the moment you put it on.
Right now, we’re deep in the process of designing our first sleepwear collection. And if there’s one thing we can say confidently, it’s this: so much more goes into it than anyone sees.
It Started With a Feeling
Before sketches.
Before fabric swatches.
Before samples.
It started with a feeling.
We wanted our sleepwear to feel like our robes do — luxurious, confident, elevated — but lighter. Effortless. Something you could wear on a slow summer morning with coffee in hand, or pack for vacation and feel instantly put together.
That’s where the vision for our lemon yellow set began.
Soft. Feminine. Playful.
The Fabric Process (Cotton vs. Bamboo — Yes, We Tested Both)
Fabric has been one of the biggest decisions.
We sampled 100% cotton.
We sampled bamboo.
We tested softness, breathability, drape, durability, and how the fabric feels after washing.
Sleepwear has to do more than look good. It has to move with you. It has to feel light against your skin. It has to hold its shape and colour.
Every sample taught us something.
Some were too thin.
Some were too stiff.
Some looked beautiful but didn’t feel right.
We refused to settle.
Sampling Isn’t Just “Make It and Sell It”
What most people don’t see is how many rounds of sampling happen before a final product exists.
We adjusted:
-
Sleeve lengths
-
Short inseams
-
Waistband comfort
-
Embroidery placement
-
Logo scale
-
Stitching details
A centimeter too long changes the silhouette.
Embroidery placed slightly too low changes the entire look.
Luxury is in the refinement.
We’re now (hopefully!) in the final stages of sampling — reviewing the most recent version, making small tweaks, and ensuring the quality meets our standards before moving forward.
Why We Take Our Time
As a small business, it would be easier to rush.
To approve the “good enough” sample.
To launch quickly.
To prioritize speed over detail.
But Robe Society was never built on “good enough.”
Our first year in business taught us that quality builds trust. And trust builds longevity.
If it doesn’t feel elevated, we won’t release it.
If it doesn’t represent our brand, we’ll rework it.
That’s the standard.
What This Collection Means to Us
This sleepwear drop feels different.
It’s the first time we’re expanding beyond robes. It’s growth. It’s evolution. It’s stepping into the lifestyle brand we’ve always envisioned.
From building our Shopify site ourselves, to packing orders by hand, to now designing full collections — this moment feels earned.
And we cannot wait to share the final version with you.
Coming Soon
If all goes well, we’re nearing the final sampling approvals.
After that comes production.
After production comes launch.
And when it launches, you’ll know every stitch was considered.
Thank you for following along behind the scenes — for supporting the process, not just the product.
The best pieces take time.
And this one will be worth the wait.
